Abstract

The article examines the life of Angelo Galanti and his various activities as illustrator, “restorer” and as a vital intermediary for the antique dealers in Chiusi during the second half of the nineteenth century. This study, based on numerous archival documents, provides not only a cross-section of the archaeological research in Chiusi but also of the “restoration” methods and the commercial transactions of ancient material carried out during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
