Abstract

In this article my purpose is to show the presence of important shamanic elements in ancient Scythian culture, through the study of burial equipments and rituals. I have examined Scythian beliefs and practices and this brings to light the great affinity existing with the neighbouring Ural-Altayan populations, who practise almost exclusively shamanism. Therefore I would say that Scythian rituals can be included within the shamanic scenary.
